Responsible for the maintenance/repairs of the machinery and all vessel equipment necessary for the operation of all tug vessels in Port Everglades and Port Canaveral. Responsible for the supervision and work assignments of shop personnel and subcontractors hired to work on the tug vessels. Responsible for maintaining the computerized Planned Maintenance System and insuring that all engineers are performing their duties as required by this system and standard good engineering practices.
Education and Experience:
Individual must be a Licensed Engineer of Motor Vessels and have the equivalent of six years experience in the maintenance and repairs, shipyards, overhauls and conversions, and the operations of tug vessels. College graduate is preferred with good computer and managerial skills. Self starting is essential as are good reporting skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain the operational status of all tugs assigned, and report any down time to Operations and Engineering Manager.
Supervise the repairs to equipment on the tugs. Direct the vessels engineers and assist as required up to and including the hiring of subcontractors.
Review all engineers and shop requisitions.
Maintain a work list for each vessel as well as an ongoing shipyard/drydock list.
Review engineers log books each month and insure weekly turnover sheets are completed and signed.
Perform evaluations of each vessels engineers at least once a year.
Travel and work at shipyards or wherever repairs are being performed.
Work overtime as needed.
